Are you a show choir?
As our name implies, we are a complete entertainment company. We do have elements of the show choir format that has recently been popularized by the TV series, Glee, but we offer so much more. LIGHT Entertainment Company puts on an entertaining show that can be scaled for just about any audience size or performing venue.
Our Company is made up of three separate groups who can carry a show by themselves or combine with other groups for a larger production. The numbers in the individual shows are carefully planned to compliment numbers from the other groups. Our fast-paced and lively show features soloists as well as group numbers. Our shows will have you laughing one minute and crying the next.
We do have a show choir that is formed primarily for competition. During the second semester of the season, a cast of 40 select members from all of our performing groups come together to form the LIGHT Show Choir. This group is the competition face of LIGHT Entertainment Company, participating in regional and national show choir competitions, bringing prestige and notoriety to the Company.
Members of the LIGHT Show Choir continue to perform with their original groups.
What is your community outreach?
The philosophy of LIGHT Entertainment Company is built around teaching youth the value of reaching out to others and selfless giving. Many of our performances are fund-raisers for worthy causes. Others are meant to brighten the lives of those we serve. The young people of LEC seem to enjoy most the service and one-on-one interaction they have with those they are serving. For more information about ways we serve, see the Community page.
Is LIGHT Entertainment Company affiliated with a school or school district?
LEC is a service organization that attracts young people from about 15 different junior high, high school and community colleges. They rehearse outside of school in the evening and on Saturday. Tours are scheduled around school breaks to minimize the amount of school days missed in order to participate.
Are you a church group?
Many members of the cast, staff, and alumni of LIGHT Entertainment Company share the same faith and believe strongly in our savior Jesus Christ. Many are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). LIGHT Entertainment Company is a private service organization not sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or any other denomination. However, our shared faith and values drive the very essence of the organization.
To learn more about our shared beliefs, please visit www.mormon.org. To meet members of the cast, staff, and alumni and read about their individual faith and beliefs, please click on the What We Believe menu items at the top of this page.
Do you accept donations? Are donations tax-deductable? What is donated money used for?
Like many non-profit organizations, LEC relies on the generosity of donors to make fulfillment of our mission possible. We gladly accept donations from individuals, organizations, or companies. These donations may be tax deductable due to our direct sponsorship from our 501(c)(3), non-profit organization. Please check with your tax professional.
Performers are responsible to pay for their own expenses. Many of these youth could not afford to participate if it were not for generous sponsorships. Money can be specifically donated toward sponsoring the Cast Members Fund.
Donations can also be applied to the general fund which covers other production expenses such as costumes, sound, rehearsal studio rental, etc. We also pay professional choreographers to come work with the performers from time to time. All other staff members, including the directors, work on a volunteer basis.
To donate, please visit the Friends of LIGHT donation page.I would like to support LIGHT Entertainment Company but do not have the financial resources to make a cash donation. Are there other ways in which I can support the organization?
Yes! Light Entertainment Company is fortunate to have an ever-growing group of volunteers. These wonderful people donate their time and skills to help improve the lives of our youth and members of our community. For more information on volunteer opportunities, visit the Volunteer page.
You can also help by spreading the word. Inform those you know to visit this website, or our YouTube Channel. Talk about LEC on social websites such as Facebook and Twitter. The more people know about LIGHT Entertainment Company, the more we can do in our community.
How can I be a performer in one of the LEC groups?
Being a LEC cast member is truly a life-changing experience. The performing season for most of LEC is September – April. Auditions are typically held at the end of the season or during the summer for the following season. Occasionally, mid-season replacements for the 2nd semester are needed. If this is the case, special auditions may held in December. Watch his website for application and audition information as the time gets closer.
